Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Management of Information Systems
With a Master's Degree in Management Information Systems, you'll learn to identify problems and leverage technology to develop solutions and realize strategic opportunities in any business worldwide. Management Information Systems is the application of information technology to managerial programs. There is a heavy technical component in the coursework, but the program provides students with the broad perspective needed to advance in their managerial careers.
Students will explore the application of computerized information systems, including Web technologies, to run a modern technology-based business. The Web, via e-commerce, has created a revolution in consumer-to-business and business-to-business transactions. The business analyst of the future must be able to identify how Web-based technologies can be applied to solving existing and new problems and how to leverage technology to realize strategic opportunities.
Each of Lincoln's academic programs is made up of a set of core curriculum, program requirements and electives. The courses listed below are just a small sample of courses that might be taken as a part of this specific program.
| Managerial Accounting | This course emphasizes the conceptual basis as it relates to creation of value for the firm. |
| Business Strategy | A study of selected critical managerial problems of coordinating the basic fundamental areas of a business enterprise. Cases and simulation are utilized. This is a capstone course and will be taken in the final semester only. |
| Artificial Intelligence | Presents the manager's responsibilities for problem solving and decision making using artificial intelligence, decision support systems and expert systems. The systems covered go beyond traditional program files and information. Three hours lecture with outside laboratory assignments. |
| Internet and Network Secturity | This course introduces students to the broad subject of network security through the study of computer and network security principles, network and server security, securing network transmission, security management, fault tolerance and disaster recovery, intrusion detection and response, and remote access and wireless security. |
| CIS Internship | Provides students with an opportunity to apply their computer knowledge and skills in a work setting and begin to formulate a career plan through supervised instruction in business or government environment. Each student will be required to complete a minimum of 320 hours at the designated internship facility. |
General Graduate Requirements
Admission is open to all undergraduate majors. Applicants to the MBA program may enroll in up to nine hours of graduate courses during their last semester of undergraduate studies if attending Lincoln University. Students without a computer science degree will be required to take additional computer science prerequisite courses, including Advanced Microcomputer Applications (CS 205) and one of the following: Operating Systems & Network Operating Systems (CS 310), Data Files & Database (CS 321), Comptuter Graphics in Business (CS 341) Web Desgin (CS 344) and one of the following Visual Basic.Net Programming (CS 331), Internet Programming with JAVA (CS 336), Object Oriented Programming Using C++ (CS 338).
All applicants must complete 18 credit hours of undergraduate preparatory courses or their approved equivalents with a "C" or better in each course:
