Hazing

 Hazing
Hazing has no place at Lincoln University. We are committed to creating a safe and respectful environment where every student can thrive without fear of intimidation or harm. Hazing refers to any action taken or situation created intentionally to cause embarrassment, harassment or risk of physical or emotional harm — regardless of an individual's willingness to participate. Although often associated with initiation rituals, hazing can occur in any student organization, including sports teams, fraternities, sororities and clubs.

Why Hazing is Harmful

Hazing not only jeopardizes the physical and mental well-being of students but also undermines the values of respect and trust that are essential to a positive campus experience. Even activities that may seem “harmless” can escalate quickly, leading to lasting trauma, injury and — at its worst — tragic outcomes.

Lincoln University’s Stance on Hazing

Lincoln University strictly prohibits all forms of hazing and is dedicated to preventing it through education, awareness and strong policies. The Engage Multi-Level Violence Prevention Program includes specific training on recognizing hazing behaviors, understanding the risks and learning how to report or intervene safely.

Resources and Support

If you or someone you know is affected by hazing, reach out to the RSVP Center at rsvpcenter@lincolnu.edu. We provide confidential support and can guide you to resources to help navigate difficult situations safely and effectively.

Let’s build a campus culture that celebrates inclusion, respect and support — not fear. Together, we can make a difference.
