Engage (Prevention Program)
- Engage is a multi-level violence prevention program that centers on civic responsibility and community connectedness by cultivating a culture of care by using the “CARES” acronym as options for intervening safely in potentially harmful situations.
- CARES stands for: Create a distraction. Act directly. Refer to a helpful resource. Enlist others. Stop and act later.
- The focus is on how to safely respond to potentially harmful situations on campus that may include but are not limited to alcohol and other drug use, bias and discrimination, interpersonal violence, and mental well-being.
