YOUR JOURNEY STARTS HERE!

When you live on campus, you get the full LU experience! Enjoy the convenience, academic and personal support, and meaningful connections with others.

Who We Are

Your Resident Director (RD) is a full-time, professional staff member who lives either in your building or an adjacent building and has an office in the community as well. Your Resident Director (RD) directly supervises all Resident Assistants (RAs) and supports student participants. In addition, the RD plays a vital role in developing a positive, safe, and enriching program experience for the RAs and students. The RD works closely with the resident assistants, students, and professional staff.
Our Resident Assistants (RAs) are here to help assist you and are available for guidance and support. RAs help build community within the residence halls and apartments by planning educational, academic, and social activities and events, fostering relationships with residents, and encouraging campus involvement. It is a great opportunity for you to develop your leadership skills further, get involved on campus, and make lifelong friends.
Community Assistants (CAs) are part-time student workers who work inside the residence halls during the day. CAs are responsible for assisting residents with basic duties and providing support for the floor Resident Assistant (RA), Residence Hall Director and/or other Housing Administrators, distributing important information to floor residents, and assisting with special projects as assigned. If you're ever confused about who to turn to for help, stop by your building’s front desk during student work hours and ask for assistance in getting in touch with the right person.

Why Live On Campus?

Your on-campus residence offers a variety of academic initiatives, such as tutoring, technology, individual and group study spaces, resource libraries, workshops, and other academic-focused special events. Living on campus gives students an academic edge.

Here, you will live, learn, and interact with an amazing group of classmates. You may even create a bond with each other that may well last a lifetime. About Our Mission

The Department of Housing and Residential Life is a key ingredient in the Student Affairs strategy for effectively and concretely addressing the hierarchical needs of the University students. The Department’s mission is to provide a residential environment in which facilities, programs, and services meet and are responsive to students’ needs and interests, complement their total development, and, at the same time, are effectively administered and efficiently operated.

The major purposes of the University’s Residential Life program are:

  1. To support the academic mission of the University,
  2. To develop a secure community environment that promotes the development of the “whole” person,
  3. To provide a wide range of quality, comprehensive services to students.

The residence hall community is to be a comfortable one where the students feel safe and secure. Moreover, it is an environment that is conducive to study and also provides social activities – all supported by a comprehensive system of activities and residence programming. The residence hall community provides opportunities from which students become involved in self-governance opportunities. This community also recognizes and supports individual differences.
