Digital Accessibility
Lincoln University of Missouri is committed to ensuring that all individuals have equal access to our information technology, web content and electronic publications. In alignment with both federal and state laws, we are dedicated to meeting the Missouri Information Technology Accessibility Standard.
At Lincoln University, we strive to design, develop and procure accessible digital communications and information technology. Our goal is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their abilities, can access the information and services they need.
Federal Accessibility Laws
The federal government has approved new ADA rules that will take effect in April 2026. These regulations will focus on web content, mobile accessibility and compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards for digital materials and products. We are actively working to adhere to these guidelines.
Learn about the federal accessibility laws listed below:
- Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities and ensures they have the same rights and opportunities as everyone else.
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act requires that programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance be accessible to individuals with disabilities.
- Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act requires federal electronic and information technology to be accessible to people with disabilities, including employees and members of the public.
Missouri Accessibility Law
According to the Missouri Assistive Technology website, a Missouri state statute mandates accessibility in the development, procurement, maintenance or use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT). This requirement also applies when administering contracts or grants that involve the procurement, development or upgrading of ICT. The statute is applicable to all public four-year and two-year colleges and universities in Missouri.
