Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting
Completion of Lincoln's graduate accounting curriculum further prepares graduates for certifications in accounting. The curriculum design, small class sizes, and individual instruction contribute to the success of our Accounting majors. Our graduates are in demand for top accounting career opportunities.
The MBA with Accounting emphasis (36 credit hours) is designed to develop excellent entry-level accounting professionals who are prepared for graduate study and for careers in public or private accounting. The program is designed to help prepare graduates for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) exams. Students can complete the 150 credit hours required by most states for the CPA exam by completing a second major in business administration or marketing, or by completing both the undergraduate accounting program and MBA accounting emphasis at Lincoln. Applicants to the MBA program may enroll in up to nine hours of graduate courses during their last semester of undergraduate studies. A bachelor's degree is required for unconditional admissions.
Each of Lincoln's academic programs is made up of a set of core curriculum, program requirements and electives. The courses listed below are just a small sample of courses that might be taken as a part of this specific program.
International Business | An introduction to international business; examines business activities through the study of social, cultural, economic and political systems of home and host countries. |
Corporate Finance | A study of financial theory and decision models as applied to financial analysis, planning and control. Also, valuation and financial structures are studied for managerial decision-making purposes. |
Managerial Accounting | This course emphasizes the conceptual basis as it relates to creation of value for the firm. |
Internal Auditing | This course emphasizes compliance and operational audits, systems of internal control, risk assessment, and analytical and quantitative methods. |
Advance Income Tax | Advanced income tax topics relative to individuals and various business entities |
General Graduate Requirements
Admission is open to all undergraduate majors. Applicants to the MBA program may enroll in up to nine hours of graduate courses during their last semester of undergraduate studies if attending Lincoln University. Students without an undergraduate accounting degres will be required to take additional accounting prerequisite courses, including Individual Income Tax (ACC 345), Intermediate Accounting I (ACC 346), Intermediate Accounting II (ACC 347) or equivalentes with a grade of "C" or better.
All applicants must complete 18 credit hours of undergraduate preparatory courses or their approved equivalents with a "C" or better in each course:
- ACC 246 Principles of Accounting I
- ACC 247 Principles of Accounting II
- BAD 310 Principles of Management
- BAD 275 Business Law I
- ECO 202 Microeconomics
- MKT 321 Principles of Marketing
With certain exceptions, a maximum of up to nine (9) semester hours of graduate credit from another accredited institution may be accepted toward a graduate degree at Lincoln.
