Campus Emergency Response Team (LU CERT)
Welcome to the Lincoln University Campus Emergency Response Team (LU CERT). Our team was established to address the need for a well-prepared volunteer emergency workforce that can assist the college during a disaster or any campus emergency. Modeled after the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Community Emergency Response Team, LU CERT ensures our team's readiness and effectiveness.
LU CERT's Role in Emergencies
During emergencies, LU CERT members support the Lincoln community and first responders. Immediately following a disaster, the demand for assistance can exceed what professional emergency services can offer. In these situations, LU CERT becomes an essential link in the emergency service chain.
How LU CERT Members Contribute
After completing training, LU CERT members may assist with:
- Damage Assessment
- Light Search and Rescue
- First Aid
- Incident Management Team Support
These teams meet regularly to practice their skills and refresh their knowledge. While joining a team is not mandatory, your participation would be greatly appreciated by all.

In the event of a major emergency or disaster on campus, public safety resources may be overwhelmed. CERT education aims to lessen the impact of disasters on participating individuals, enabling them to assist family members, neighbors, or coworkers immediately following an emergency until responders arrive.
Volunteers can receive additional training to act as a force multiplier, supplementing response or incident management operation at the direction of the Lincoln University Police Department.
Join LU CERT today and make a significant impact in your community during emergencies. Together, we can ensure a safer campus for everyone.
