Lincoln University Announces Dr. Saint Rice Jr. as Associate Provost for Undergraduate Education and Dean of the University College

Lincoln University’s Division of Academic Affairs has announced the appointment of Dr. Saint Rice Jr. as the associate provost for undergraduate education and dean of the University College, effective Monday, March 17. This newly created position reflects the university’s commitment to enhancing undergraduate education and advancing student success initiatives.

In his new role, Rice will join the academic affairs leadership team and the deans' council, providing strategic oversight and innovative leadership for University College. The division is focused on improving first-to-second-year retention rates and supporting undergraduate students' academic journeys.

Rice will also lead the newly established Office of Undergraduate Education, which aims to enhance high-impact practices for student success. This office will oversee initiatives such as international education and study abroad, the honors program, civic engagement, leadership and service-learning, undergraduate research and the Office of Career Services. 

Among his first tasks, Rice will collaborate with faculty to integrate service-learning, undergraduate research and capstone/internship experiences within every undergraduate major. Additionally, he will work alongside Provost Lawrence to implement EAB Navigate, the university’s new student customer relations management software. Rice’s responsibilities will also include overseeing the Writing and Math Centers and addressing academic concerns directly with students.

Rice brings a wealth of experience to his new position. Most recently, he served as the assistant dean and director of faculty, staff and community engagement at the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He has also held leadership and faculty roles at Truman State University, Lincoln College and Lindenwood University. In addition to his administrative duties, Rice will hold a faculty appointment as an associate professor of criminal justice at Lincoln University.

Rice earned his Doctor of Education in higher education leadership from Maryville University. He also holds a Master of Arts in clinical mental health counseling, a Master of Science in criminal justice and a Bachelor of Arts in communications, all from Lindenwood University. 

Rice’s office will be located in Young Hall 206. The university community is invited to join in welcoming Rice to the Blue Tiger family.
