Lincoln University of Missouri will introduce a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program in fall 2025, allowing registered nurses to advance their education in a flexible, online format. As the only MSN program at an HBCU in Missouri, Lincoln University is one of 16 HBCUs nationwide offering this advanced nursing degree.
Lincoln’s MSN program features online coursework that can be completed in as few as 12 months to support working RNs. In addition to the online coursework, students will fulfill in-person clinical requirements. Graduate students can choose from two specialized tracks: nurse educator or nurse leadership.
“We are excited to expand our successful undergraduate nursing program and how we are helping to meet critical healthcare workforce needs,” said Dr. Jennifer McCord, School of Nursing department head. “With the strengths of our supportive HBCU environment and the convenience of online education, our MSN program is a pathway to success for RNs ready to advance their careers.”
The MSN curriculum focuses on leadership, evidence-based practice and patient-centered care to prepare graduates for advanced clinical, educational and administrative roles in healthcare. The program can be completed in as few as 12 months. Graduates will be eligible for national certification as either a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) or a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML). No GRE is required for admission.
Applications for the fall 2025 cohort are now being accepted. More information, including application details, is available on Lincoln’s website.
