25 in ’25 – Lincoln University’s Student Innovation Lounge Helping Foster Community, Problem-Solving

January 21st, 2025

As the new year kicks off, Lincoln University of Missouri is rolling out “25 in ‘25” points of pride, highlighting key achievements from last year to build momentum for the future.

One standout milestone is the continued success of Lincoln University’s Student Innovation Lounge, which was unveiled in 2024 and continues to foster a sense of community and problem-solving. The lounge, funded by a Home Depot grant, reflects Lincoln University's dedication to nurturing creativity and entrepreneurship among students.

On April 25, 2024, the University hosted an official ribbon-cutting ceremony–a year after being named as one of the 10 recipients of Home Depot’s Innovation Lounge Grant at the Retool Your School Award Celebration. Through a $75,000 grant, the University converted the former print shop in Schweich Hall into an Innovation Lounge where students can congregate, collaborate and ideate.

"We are delighted to offer a dedicated space that enhances our students' ability to collaborate, innovate and connect," said Lincoln University Chief Operating Officer Dr. Ashton Cleveland. "This lounge reflects our unwavering commitment to nurturing an environment where academic excellence thrives, and future leaders are empowered to excel."

The Innovation Lounge offers workshops through the LU Small Business Development Center, focusing on business planning, finance, management and marketing. The workshops contribute to the development of essential skills and knowledge among students. Envisioned as a hub for students, the lounge helps students who are developing their own businesses, providing an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
