Lincoln University Launches Freshman Innovation Council to Develop Future Leaders

January 31st, 2025

Lincoln University of Missouri is proud to introduce the inaugural cohort of the Freshman Innovation Council (F.I.C.), an innovative program aimed at developing leadership skills in first-year students.

The F.I.C. is designed for students who demonstrated leadership in high school and want to refine those skills during their time at Lincoln University. The program equips participants with tools and experiences to navigate the opportunities and challenges of student leadership while fostering a sense of community and pride as Blue Tigers.

Led by Assistant Dean of Students Isaac Bivins, Jr., Student Engagement Theressa Ferguson and Chief of Student Affairs and Dean of Students Dr. Tobias Morgan, the F.I.C. program consists of four key components:

  1. A Core Leadership Curriculum
  2. Bi-monthly Experiential Learning Activities
  3. Project Development & Case Study Review
  4. Mentorship

“The Freshman Innovation Council provides a unique opportunity for students to grow as leaders, thinkers and problem-solvers,” said Dr. Morgan. “By investing in their potential now, we are helping to shape not only the future of Lincoln University but also the communities these students will one day lead.”
