Lincoln University of Missouri’s “25 in ‘25” points of pride continues as the University spotlights a robust federal investment that is bolstering innovation and collaboration in agriculture.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently awarded $2,198,015 to the Lincoln University Cooperative Research (LUCR). Announced in June, this significant investment has been pivotal in enhancing LUCR’s capacity to advance agriculture, environmental stability and community health research efforts.
The funding, provided through the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s (NIFA) 1890 Institution Teaching, Research and Extension Capacity Building Grants Program, strengthens four groundbreaking projects that demonstrate Lincoln University’s commitment to providing everlasting impact in agriculture and sustainability. The projects range from AI-driven pest management to water quality improvements and many more. Each project is making an impact while providing experiential learning opportunities to further enrich students’ educational journey.
“Lincoln University is leading the way in innovation and research to meet the challenges of the 21st century," said Dr. Douglas LaVergne, Lincoln University vice president of land-grant engagement. "We remain deeply committed to advancing research that will benefit the ever-evolving agricultural landscape and boosting sustainability. This federal support for our projects continues our legacy of fostering innovation and excellence in agriculture.”
The University’s four exemplary projects led by LUCR were selected from a highly competitive pool. Each initiative upholds Lincoln University’s mission of advancing science and fostering sustainability for our next generation of agricultural leaders.
Stay tuned for the rest of the month with more of Lincoln’s 25 in ‘25.
