The Lincoln University of Missouri (LU) Office of Student Health and Well-being has expanded services to make 24/7 care accessible to all students. With app access for added convenience, Lincoln now offers around-the-clock health services to support students’ needs any time of the day or night.
Enhanced Health Services from LU Student Health Services
LU Student Health Services has partnered with Big Tree Medical, which provides a full suite of primary care and mental health support. Access to care is free to Lincoln students. Appointments are easily made through the Spruce app (all Lincoln students should watch for an email from Hint with instructions), making it convenient for students to access care when they need it most.
Dr. Lisa Joyner leads the LU Student Health and Well-Being department, which encompasses Student Health, Counseling Services, Access and Abilities and Relationship Violence Prevention, providing holistic support for students.
Dr. Adam Wheeler and Tamika Thornton, RN, lead the health team at Thompkins Health Center on campus, offering expertise in areas such as pediatrics, mental health, preventative care and more. Dr. Wheeler is available on campus Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., while Nurse Thornton is available Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. To make an appointment, students can either download the Spruce app or call/text 573-814-1170.
Students who want to receive care remotely can utilize the Spruce app, powered by Big Tree Medical, for access to care 24/7.
24/7 Access to Comprehensive Mental Health Services
LU is enhancing its mental health services by partnering with TeleHelp 24/7, providing students with 24/7 access to crisis support, individual and group counseling and substance use coaching. This collaboration allows students to connect with licensed professionals through secure video conferencing and text messaging therapy, ensuring high-quality mental health care is accessible whenever needed. The platform offers flexible support that is available regardless of financial circumstances, helping LU students thrive both personally and academically as they work towards their degrees and future goals.
Students can make an appointment online through the TeleHelp 24/7 website or by using the TeleHelp 24/7 app for convenient access to mental health services. Students can make an appointment for in-person visits at the Thompkins Health Center by emailing studentcounseling@lincolnu.edu.
