Lincoln University has named Tim Abney as Interim Director of Athletics following the departure of Dr. Kevin Wilson, who served as Vice President for Advancement and Athletics. Abney currently serves as the Assistant Athletic Director for Administration.
“The University is grateful to Dr. Wilson for his successes between 2021 through this year,” says Lincoln University President Dr. John Moseley. “Under his leadership, we have seen the reintroduction of baseball and soccer, and he has also helped guide us through the process of joining the Great Lakes Valley Conference."
Abney, a 1978 graduate of Lincoln University, has devoted the majority of his professional career to his alma mater. Prior to his current role, the former star basketball player was Head Women’s Basketball Coach for 10 seasons and is the second winningest coach in that program’s history. He also coached tennis for seven years. Abney, a strong advocate for education before competition, was also previously Assistant Athletic Director for Academics. He is a member of the 2017 Class of the Lincoln University Athletic Hall of Fame.
“Tim has a longstanding history with Lincoln University Athletics from all aspects–as a student, coach and administrator. His experience and genuine love for our University and our students are key factors in his selection for this role. I know he will lead well,” adds Moseley.
Abney begins the Interim Athletic Director duties on April 1.
