Family, friends, students, staff and alumni of Lincoln University of Missouri (LU) paid tribute to the late Felix Wulff (June 6, 1947 – Feb. 4, 2022) at a plaque dedication ceremony at the LU George Washington Carver Farm on Friday, Feb. 17. Wulff was a dedicated LU employee for 35 years serving as the farm manager and assistant professor whose work led to much of the success of the agriculture program and was an important pillar in the community and Missouri farms.
“Our students have the opportunity for life-changing experiences here at our farms. This place feels like home to them just like it did to Felix,” said LU President Dr. John B. Moseley. “His dedication made an impact.”
In 1976, Wulff became the farm manager and was instrumental in successfully helping to build, develop and oversee the projects of the agricultural program. In addition, Wulff was very involved in everything related to research and extension. Believing the community needed to know about Lincoln University, Wulff served as a major advocate representing the university throughout the city, county and state and actively recruited students to the agriculture program. Among his other accomplishments, Wulff was very active in the Ag Club and FFA activities at Lincoln University and served as a Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce member.
Former student and alumni Mary Reed helped Wulff start the Ag Club in 2006. Wulff ensured the students had everything they needed — even donating his own money at times — to make the program a success.
“He made sure we had everything we needed for the sheep, to take care of them and keep them clean, and always made sure we had something to eat,” said Reed. “He was the man behind the scenes that made sure everything went smoothly.”
The ceremony began with a warm introduction by farm technician, Doug Moeller, followed by remarks from President Moseley. Wulff’s wife, Joann Wulff, and daughter, Lisa Wulff, partook in the unveiling of the plaque along with President Moseley. Guests shared tributes and remembrances of Wulff, as he touched the lives of many at Lincoln. Among those in attendance to honor Wulff were state Sen. Mike Bernskoetter, state Rep. Rudy Veit, Eastern Cole County Commissioner and LU alumnus Jeff Hoelscher, and LU Curator Terry Rackers.

Growing up, Lisa Wulff recalls going with her father to the farm. She shared, “I remember on the weekends, he needed to check on the animals, and I went with him.”
She helped her father feed the animals and tend to them. “I felt very much a part of the game,” she said, reflecting on her childhood memories.
Dr. Moseley said, “We have a saying, ‘Let’s move Lincoln forward, together’ and I can tell by all the stories shared about Felix – he lived this.”
