What is an Agriculture Minor?
An agriculture minor is designed for students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or other fields who wish to gain additional knowledge and experience in agriculture. This comprehensive program covers a wide array of agricultural principles through extensive hands-on activities. Students will explore topics such as plant or animal breeding, aquaculture, agronomy, crop management, vegetable production, gardening, beekeeping, horticulture, production techniques, plant pathology, integrated pest management, agricultural education, agricultural communication, agricultural economics, and policymaking. This diverse education prepares students for various careers in the agricultural sector, including roles in the private sector, governmental agencies, and non-governmental organizations.

A minimum grade of “C” in AGR 101, 102, 211, 220, plus six hours of AGR electives at 300-400 level.
- AGR 101: Introduction to Animal Science (3, SP).
- AGR 102: Introduction to Plant Science (3, SP). Prerequisites: ENG 101, BIO 103, and BIO 104L
- AGR 211: Soils in Our Environment (3, SP). Prerequisites: CHM 101 or 103 and 104L or consent of an instructor.
- AGR 220: Introduction to Agricultural Economics (3, FA).

Students gain hands-on experience through visits to farms, research labs, and companies, engaging in projects, attending conferences, and networking with industry leaders and government officials. Opportunities extend beyond the classroom with internships, involvement in the Ag Club, the collegiate FFA Chapter, and corporate-sponsored student organizations. An agriculture minor further hones students' leadership, teamwork, communication skills, and other valuable attributes.
