George Washington Carver Research Farm
George Washington Carver and James N. Freeman farms currently support research and educational demonstrations on a variety of subjects. Plant science research and demonstrations are conducted on grain sorghum, soybean, quinoa, blueberry, tomato, pepper and brussels sprout production, some of which is hydroponic. Research and demonstrations on animal science relate to hair sheep and meat goats as well as cow-calf and beef cattle finishing. All animals are raised in an intensively managed grazing system. Aquaculture research and demonstrations are also conducted at the indoor aquaculture facility and in the outdoor production ponds. Soil health research is planned to begin on the farms soon.
