LU Bridge Program

Blue Tiger Spirit

Welcome, Future Blue Tiger!

The Lincoln University Summer Bridge program provides direct support and guidance for incoming freshmen and is designed to increase a student’s likelihood of academic success during their first year in college. Successful completion of the Summer Bridge program will allow you to enroll as a member of the First Year Success Initiative, which also provides a variety of academic and non-academic support for new students. All student success programs are cohort-based and supported by the Academic Success Center’s Success Coaches and programs. Students considering the Summer Bridge program can choose from the following program options:

FAQs

Students with a cumulative, high school GPA of 2.49 or lower, or entering with a GED.

Summer Bridge is a 3-week, free program that earns four college credit hours. (Enrollment capacity is 100.)
Students who earn a grade of C or better in all enrolled classes, will successfully complete the program.
Students who earn less than a C grade in one or more classes will be re-assessed for continuation in the First-Year Success Initiative (FYSI) program.

You can take advantage of one of LU’s guaranteed admission programs at a partnership institution.

Students who choose to attend Lincoln who have been identified as potentially underprepared, but who do NOT want to attend the LU Summer Bridge program, will still have access to LU academic support.

Note: Students will NOT have access to additional support programs (i.e. dedicated academic success teams available to LU Summer Bridge participants).

While your first semester will NOT be full-time, our flat rate tuition (12-18 hours) will allow you to register for the additional credit hours needed to graduate in four years.

Submit your $150 non-refundable, one-time Intent to Enroll fee and your $150 Housing deposit for fall 2025 at Residence Life.

A member of the Academic Success Team will contact you regarding your acceptance and how to prepare. Preparation will include:

  • MANDATORY virtual orientation session (student and guardian)
  • Contact with your academic success team leader, prior to the start of the semester
  • Completion of $150 housing deposit
  • Submission of student health forms
  • Completion of 2025-2026 FAFSA

All steps must be completed at least 1 week prior to the start of Summer Bridge.

Students who do NOT complete the steps mentioned above are still conditionally admitted to Lincoln University but will be counseled to take advantage of a community college option.

All Summer Bridge graduates will become a part of the First-Year Success Initiative (FYSI) where they and their other cohort members will continue to strengthen the skills necessary to be successful college students.

Students in Summer Bridge will have all SUMMER-associated fees and costs covered by the University.
