Leadership Roles at Lincoln

At Lincoln University, Dr. Stevie L. Lawrence II serves as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. In this role, he provides strategic leadership for the academic division, ensuring that the university maintains its commitment to educational excellence. His responsibilities include:
  • Overseeing the academic programs and policies to align with Lincoln University's mission and goals.
  • Collaborating with deans, department chairs, and faculty to enhance academic offerings and student success initiatives.

Education and Early Career

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Higher Education from Jackson State University
  • Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University
  • Bachelor of Arts from North Carolina A&T State University
Dr. Lawrence began his career with a focus on academic administration and student services, particularly at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). His early career roles include:
  • Vice President for Postsecondary Education at the Southern Regional Education Board (SREB)
    • Led postsecondary programs and developed initiatives to support state offices and institutions.
  • Founding Dean of the University College at Fort Valley State University in Georgia
    • Implemented strategies that significantly improved student retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
  • Academic positions at the University of North Carolina System Office, Shaw University, Virginia Union University, and Halifax Community College.
These early roles provided Dr. Lawrence with the experience and insight necessary to lead academic programs and initiatives aimed at enhancing student success and institutional growth.
