LU Quality Matters professional development is designed to help educators deliver quality online learning opportunities.  Whether you're looking to improve course design or participate in the course review process, LU has options to help you meet your goals.

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR) Workshop

The APPQMR Workshop guides you through applying the Quality Matters Rubric to your online course.  The workshop is offered in two formats:  8 hour face-2-face workshop or a 2 week online course.

Peer Reviewer Certification

Once the APPQMR Workshop has been successfully completed, faculty may opt to become certified QM Peer Reviewers. Certified QM Peer Reviewers can participate in informal and/or formal in-house and national peer reviews.

If you are an experienced online instructor, you are eligible to become a certified QM Peer Reviewer. The experience you gain from becoming a certified QM Peer Reviewer offers several advantages:

  • Your approach to online course design improves as you become familiar with the QM rubric.
  • You can participate in faculty-centered online course reviews at NMSU or at other universities nationwide, which can be included in your promotion and tenure packets.Prerequisite

You must have taught an online course within the past twelve months.

Commitment

To become a certified QM Peer Reviewer, one must apply. If selected, LU pays for the tuition for the coursework. To become a certified peer reviewer, you take two short online courses, for a total of 4 weeks, offered by Quality Matters. After successful completion of these courses, you then become a certified QM Peer Reviewer.
