Lincoln University of Missouri English Department Chair and Professor of English Dr. Bryan Salmons presented his book, Teacher, on January 28 in 300 Young Hall at Lincoln University. The event, hosted by the Department of Humanities and Communications, provided attendees with insight into Dr. Salmons’ creative process and the inspiration behind his work, which explores the unsolved murder of Vicki Koch.
During the event, Dr. Salmons shared his long-standing interest in mysteries, detective fiction and true crime. While he had previously written shorter examinations of real-life murders and disappearances, he took the opportunity during a sabbatical last spring to write Teacher, his first full-length work in the genre.
Following his reading, attendees participated in a discussion with Dr. Salmons. The event featured refreshments, and copies of Teacher were available for purchase, with many guests taking the opportunity to have their books signed. The book is also available on Amazon.
Dr. Salmons, Lincoln University faculty member since 2009, has served as chair of the Department of Humanities and Communications for over a decade, including a recent return to the role. He has also been elected as Lincoln University Faculty Senate Chair three times and served in the position on an interim basis in 2023. He was promoted to full professor in 2019.
