Lincoln University has appointed Dr. Avila Hendricks as a Provost Fellow in a program designed to provide senior faculty members experience in academic and university administrative leadership.

Hendricks, a full professor in the School of Education with more than 20 years of service at Lincoln, will lead the Faculty Affairs unit in the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs through summer 2025.

"I am excited to have Dr. Hendricks join the Office of the Provost in this capacity," said Dr. Stevie Lawrence II, provost and vice president for academic affairs. "Dr. Hendricks is a veteran college professor and brings a wealth of experience that will assist in further supporting faculty affairs and development, which is essential in ensuring a vibrant and continually thriving campus."

In her new role, Hendricks will focus on several key initiatives:

  • Streamlining new faculty onboarding
  • Developing the faculty mentoring program
  • Refining adjunct faculty hiring and training
  • Leading faculty development through the Center for Teaching and Learning

The appointment supports Strategic Priority 6 of Lincoln's strategic plan, "Providing a Welcoming Culture," specifically objective 6.1, which focuses on expanding student, faculty and staff workforce capacity through increased cross-departmental collaboration and professional development opportunities.

A second Provost Fellow will be selected to begin service in January 2025.
